About The Smoot Group

The Smoot Group conducts exciting research in the area of cosmology and astrophysics that typically has a link to fundamental physical principles. For many years, the group has used the Cosmic Background Radiation as a tool to understand the structure and history of the Universe and its relation to the structure of space-time. Likewise, gravitational lensing, the search for evidence of cosmic strings, and the cosmic infrared background tell us about the structure of space-time and high-energy processes and transitions in the early Universe. Science goals of CMB research.
