DAS (Data Acquisition System) Data Rate

The DAS (Data Acquistion System) is designed to interface any experiment to a computer for data recording and processing.

The bit or baud rate ranges from 150 to 38.4 kbaud. There is also a 32k bps position which meets the NASA serial data standard. The data rate can be increased in multiples of the basic rate of 32 kps.

According to John Gibson, the DAS will run at x2, x5, and x10 the basic rate of 32 kbps.

The modifications were very simple: Four resistors were changed and the U26 (74HC390) in the Multiplexer/ADC was removed, an IC socket put in and U26 replaced in the socket. At this point the DAS runs at all of it's old bit rates. The bit rate can be changed in seconds to x10 (or x5, etc.) by pulling IC U26 from its socket and replacing the IC with the appropriate one for the rate increase required.
