Formation of the Elements
(Support for this page has been provided by

The purpose of this site is to allow searchers to review the steps
by which atomic nuclei have formed through time to create the atoms
of which the universe is composed.
This process is called NUCLEOSYNTHESIS, and has occurred in two main stages:
"In the Beginning" (i.e. the Big Bang)
(text only) /
(with pictures)
Upon completion, this stage created the light elements (mostly H and He)
from which the universe first began.
Inside of stars
(text only) /
(with pictures)
This is the following stage, still in progress today,
where the starting blocks of H and He are put together
to form high mass elements within stars.
