Miller Research Fellowships

Professors in the Sciences are allowed submit nominations to the Miller Institute for Basic Research for Miller Research Fellowships . The Miller Institute seeks to discover and encourage individuals of outstanding talent and to provide them the opportunity to pursue their research in science.

The process requires ranking by the submitting professors department before being reviewed by the Miller Institute. The Miller Research Fellowships are prestigious and very competitive.

The Fellowships are intended for brillaint young women and men of great promise who have recently been awarded or who are about to be awared the doctoral degree.

Nominations require a letter of nomination from the sponsoring professor and the candidate must supply a resume, a statement of research interests, appropriate samples of research work and documentation. Additional letters of support will be requested from others than the nominator. Direct applications are not accepted.
Please note that persons already in positions on the Berkeley campus are not eligible.

Non-US citizens are eligible for nomination. However, awards are subject to verification of eligibility for obtaining a J-1 scholar visa. Candidates will be notified of the competition results in the later half of December, and a general announcement of the awards will be made in the spring.
