Eric Gawiser

Eric works in theoretical astrophysics and cosmology. Eric has been at Berkeley since the summer of 1994 and started graduate school in the fall of 1994.

Eric is currently working on cosmology and in particular the cosmic microwave background radiation. He is involved in a project to estimate the foreground presented by extragalactic sources.

Extragalactic foregrounds will significantly affect the MAP and the Planck satellites and balloon-borne experiments, such MAXIMA, because of their improved resolution. Eric has recently completed a paper with Professor George Smoot that predicts the level foreground microwave anisotropy that will be generated by infrared bright galaxies astro-ph/9603121
