PLANCK Data Stream Merge
The PLANCK data stream merge is the responsibility of the
DPC (Data Processing Center) and is composed of several parts.
-
Primary telemetry data from the decompressed Planck telemetry stream from
FINDAS.
-
this is the time-ordered science and housekeeping as well as spacecraft
data on the primary data stream
-
PLANCK satellite data from additional sources
-
Additional telemetered data
-
Mission Planning data such as spacecraft position and orbit parameters
-
...
-
ANCILLARY DATA Sets
-
Data from ground-based observations
-
Astronomical Data bases
-
Information determined from previous flight data
-
Instrument State
-
Some information may not be included in the information status but is known
from operations history
-
calibration information
-
Attitude Reconstruction
-
Attitude reconstruction is such a significant task that it should be listed,
verified, and validated separately from the rest of the data steam merge
-
algortithm for reconstruction and software
-
acceptance of pointing updates -
-
how to signify pointing reconstruction solution?
-
And how many passes through the data?
-
Can we find a method that allows pointing solution from data stream just
prior to use?
-
solution verification and accuracy? stability?
-
how many sources provide/require pointing accuracy to level x?
-
Monitor observation plan and sky coverage, perform analysis to determine
if corrections are necessary or improvements can be made
The bulk of these data merge tasks are most appropriate for
computer science and data handling specialists. The primary points of interactions
with the LFI science team is in defining what kinds of data are needed
for the science data streams and anything siphoned off for further quick-look,
real-time, monitoring, and quality checking and any special investigations
of performance. It is likely that the data volume is sufficiently large
that the data will be separated into relevant streams by special software
for long term trending and investigations, espeically those that need the
merged data stream.
