There have been two different ground stations used for the MAX/MAXIMA experiments, and thus two archiving methods and two extraction programs sets.
MAX 5 and all prior flights used a decom board attached to a VAX computer running VMS and custom archiving software. The appropriate programs for these archives are ARC_TEST and ARC_SER.
MAX 5 and all later flights use(d) a LORAL decom board/telemetry package running under Windows on a PC. (Yes MAX 5 archived data in both forms.) The appropriate programs for these archives are bar_check, l2a, and l2b.
