Postdoctoral Fellowship Program and Graduate Students

An extraordinary level of knowledge-based human creativity and engagement is needed to generate breakthroughs in cosmology. Expanding BCCP's Postdoctoral Fellowship Program and support for Graduate Students are critical steps to taking our understanding of the universe to the next level. In today's challenging funding environment, with major cutbacks in state and federal aid to public higher education, an investment in the BCCP will enable us to continue to recruit the best and the brightest global scientific talent. The BCCP Research Overview presents details about our leading-edge science research and collaborations.

The BCCP is designed not only to focus talent on cosmological questions but also to advance higher order thinking by fostering creative interactions between seasoned faculty and young scientists. BCCP's postdoctoral fellowship program has a goal to give 10 post docs and 5 graduate students the opportunity to conduct vanguard research supported by sophisticated technology facilities at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. The BCCP People page lists all scientists and postdocs involved in our extensive research. These elite scholars pursue individual research interests within the framework of the BCCP's institutional research programs while preparing for intellectual leadership in science.

With the freedom to pursue their own basic research agendas creativity thrives. No questions are off-limits and no potential answers are discounted - the spirit of open inquiry has produced a remarkably productive research environment. Scientific progress depends on interactions between scientists with a wide range of expertise and perspectives, and BCCP considers it a priority to cultivate and maintain diversity of all kinds - gender, age, ethnicity, and national origin - in its graduate and postdoctoral student programs.

Undergraduate Students

Undergraduate internships give promising college students early-in opportunities to experience the challenges and rewards of research - this helps them clarify their interests and goals and make career decisions that reflect a deeper understanding of their academic and professional choices.
